The Goals Of The 2nd Amendment Coalition
Burtonsville, Maryland; June 1, 2004
Maryland Voters announce forming several Voter Education Coalitions.
The Second Amendment Coalition is headed by Senator Alex X. Mooney (
R. - District 3 - Frederick and Washington Counties ) and Bob Culver
(Montgomery Citizens for a Safer Maryland, MCSM)
Republican Voters working to re-elect President Bush and Vice
President Cheney have recently formed a series of Coalitions to
support voter education in Maryland.
The Second Amendment Coalition (2AM Coalition), like the other
Coalitions that were recently formed, is a grass roots group of
individuals, who have coalesced to take the Second Amendment message
to the voters of Maryland. More importantly, it will take "the
Voting Message to Second Amendment supporters in Maryland".
The 2AM Coalition will target like minded individuals and groups, and
will distribute voting information, to gather voter support for
firearm friendly candidates in upcoming elections. Several of the
Coalition groups have similar, firearm related, interests; such as
the Sportsman's Coalition and the First Responder - Law Enforcement
Coalitions. They will cross educate their audiences, but the 2AM
Coalition also has a unique position under the Maryland Constitution
and Maryland Code. They will focus on firearm owners from all
interest groups and spur them to political action for the upcoming
election contest.
Second Amendment advocates, and even those supporters who may not be
outwardly active advocates, represent a very well informed but
private group. They are not usually thought of as being "easy
joiners" in political affairs. The 2AM Coalition aims to change all
that with its efforts in project "Bullet Vote".
Past political activity in Maryland indicates that the 2AM Coalition
potential members have begun to stir. Several Delegates, who had
unfriendly attitudes toward firearm owners' rights, have lost recent
elections. Several severely anti-gun laws have been stopped in
Annapolis this year. These clear targets will continue to be defined
for the coming elections; Voting for Candidates who support firearm
rights.
Over the next months, building to elections late in 2004, the
Maryland 2AM Coalition will conduct the mult-part project "Bullet
Vote", targeting their friends and family to build voter rolls and,
stealing a line from the popular NRA bumper sticker, to "Vote Freedom
First".
